Nobody Can Believe Spurs Goalie Hugo Lloris Has Been Nominated for the Ballon d’Or

Tottenham goalkeeper Hugo Lloris has been nominated for this year’s prestigious Ballon d’Or Award – but fans all across the continent have absolutely no idea why.

The nature of the Ballon d’Or Award has changed in recent years, but the gong has been given out to the de facto best footballer on the planet by French magazine France Football ever since 1956, and sees their editorial staff put together the initial 30-man shortlist before deciding on the winner.

Translated as ‘The Golden Ball’, the Ballon d’Or is still one of the most revered prizes in elite football, and there’s no shortage of star names on this season’s nominations list.

The likes of Sergio Aguero, Cristiano Ronaldo, Leo Messi and Virgil van Dijk all make the cut, but the inclusion of Lloris has left plenty of punters a little bit stumped:

Of course, Lloris played his part in Spurs reaching last season’s Champions League final, where they lost to Liverpool, but his form in the Premier League hasn’t been great for a while now, so what do you think of his inclusion on the list?
