Ryan Jack Plays Down Celtic’s Quality in Rangers’ Defeat at Ibrox

Ryan Jack has played down Celtic‘s quality as they beat Rangers at Ibrox in September.

The Gers midfielder played the full 90 minutes as Steven Gerrard’s side lost 2-0 for their first defeat of the campaign.

Odsonne Edouard and Jonny Hayes got the goals on the day, with Jordan Jones being sent off late on for the hosts.

Rangers didn’t play well in the game and Celtic ended up comfortable winners.

But Jack believes Celtic ‘weren’t anything special’.

Speaking to The Athletic, per The Scottish Sun, Jack said: “It’s total belief he [Gerrard] has. He sees us every day and he obviously thinks it’s going to take a special team to play us off the park.

“Even in the Old Firm we just weren’t great but they weren’t anything special.

“I don’t think any team in the last six, nine months has played us off the park or been a better football team than us.”

Rangers have recovered from that defeat to top the Scottish Premiership table going into the international break.

They hammered Hamilton 5-0 at Ibrox on Sunday – taking advantage of Celtic’s 2-0 loss to Livingston.

Now Gerrard’s men will be hoping to kick on and establish themselves at the top of the Premiership, but it’s likely to be some battle with the champions.
