The Swiss midfielder sparked headlines on Sunday when he gestured towards the Gunners supporters as they jeered his substitution against Crystal Palace.

Xhaka’s behaviour has been criticised by many since, with some supporters keen to see him stripped of the captaincy.
And now Emery has spoken about the incident while giving an update on Xhaka.
Per Football London, Emery said: “It’s not easy for him and for the team. He is now devastated, sad. We spoke yesterday and Sunday night and this morning.
“He trained normally with the group but he is devastated. He is sad about that situation.
“His commitment is great every time. He wants to help. His behaviour was perfect in training, with the group and club. Really he knows he was wrong.
“He feels inside, very deep. It’s normal as a human. Every player needs the supporters’ support.”
Emery has also confirmed that Xhaka won’t be in the squad for Arsenal’s Carabao Cup game against Liverpool tomorrow night.
That is a significant move from Emery – and casts doubts over whether or not he will be captain of the club long term.
