Steven Gerrard raved about Filip Helander after his performance against Porto tonight.
The Rangers manager couldn’t hide his delight following his side’s 1-1 draw out in Portugal.
The result sees them take their Europa League group points tally to four points after three games.
And they’ll fancy their chances of qualifying with two of their remaining three games to be played at Ibrox.
Luis Diaz gave Porto a first-half lead with a fine goal, but Alfredo Morelos’ nice finish pegged them back shortly after.
Rangers actually dominated the rest of the game, but did need their defenders and goalkeepers to step up to keep a dangerous counter-attacking Porto at bay.
And they got exactly that – brilliantly led by Helander.
Speaking post-match, Gerrard raved about Helander and said the Swedish centre back arrived tonight:
Helander was signed from Bologna in a £3.5million deal in the summer, but had to wait for his chance with Nikola Katic and Connor Goldson the preferred centre back partnership.
With a performance like that tonight though – does he deserve to be a regular starter?
