Scotland Fans Query Why Billy Gilmour Hasn’t Received a Senior Call-up

Scotland have been forced into something of a squad re-shuffle today – and plenty of fans are wondering why there’s been no call-up to the senior squad for Billy Gilmour.

Gilmour, 18, is arguably one of the most exciting prospects Scottish football has had in years, with the midfielder getting more first-team game-time under Frank Lampard at Chelsea in last weekend’s 1-0 win over Crystal Palace.

Gilmour has made five senior appearances for the high-flying Blues this season, including starting against Manchester United in the EFL Cup tie earlier this month.

But despite the likes of Ryan Fraser, Scott McTominay and Andy Robertson all being forced to withdraw from the squad to face Cyprus and Kazakhstan this week, Gilmour is still in the Under-21 squad – instead of showing his potential in the first-team:

Of course, he’s still a teenager with a long way to go – but do you think Steve Clarke could’ve taken this opportunity – particularly since it’s for two meaningless matches – to call-up Billy Gilmour?
