Scotland’s Ollie Burke Says He’s Hoping to Put Himself in the ‘Shop Window’

Scotland winger Oliver Burke admits his future is uncertain – as he aims to put himself in the ‘shop window’ over the coming few months.

Still only 22, Burke has spent the start of this season on-loan from West Brom at Alaves in Spain’s La Liga, having spent the second-half of last season on-loan at Celtic, and he’ll be out of contract come the summer.

Between West Brom and German giants RB Leipzig, Burke’s services have been bought for a combined amount of almost £30 million throughout his short career, but the man himself admits he still has to prove himself to potential future employers, with his deal at the Hawthorns running down.

Speaking ahead of Scotland’s double-header against Cyprus and Kazakhstan, via the BBC, Burke said: “I’m happy with where I am now and getting the game time. It’s such a great league as well, so I’m very happy.

“It’s going very well, I’m really enjoying it.

“I wouldn’t say it’s far different from leagues in other countries I’ve played in. I think maybe some tactical things, and the language barrier, but I feel like I’m learning a lot and they’ve made me very welcome.

“I’ve been there [West Brom] so long, but then I’ve not actually played many games for them, so you almost feel like you are not part of that team because I’ve been to other clubs and been on loan.

“I just have to focus on this loan I’m on now and take it all in and hopefully good things come from me going on loan now and getting game time. Hopefully it puts me in the shop window.

“I’d love to be a club and be the first name on the team-sheet every week, but I think it will come in time. I’m still at a good age and I’m just doing everything I can to learn the game.”

Where do you think Burke will end up playing his football from next season onward?

And could he potentially be lured back to Scottish football in some capacity?
