The packed audience heard stories about Brown’s illustrious 12-year career with Celtic and were able to pay tribute to their skipper.

And it was one of Brown’s own stories which should make headlines.

Per Celts Are Here, Brown spoke about the difference between negotiating with Celtic and negotiating with Rangers, who he was also linked with before leaving Hibs in 2007:

At the time, Rangers were keen on signing Brown too – alongside Hibees teammate Kevin Thomson, who did end up going on to join the Ibrox club.

Brown has since went on to play 549 times for Celtic, lifting 19 major trophies.
