Video: Neil Lennon Plays Down Victor Wanyama Rumours, Says He’s Happy with His Celtic Midfield

Celtic manager Neil Lennon has played down speculation linking Victor Wanyama with a sensational return to the club – saying he’s happy with his current midfield options.

According to a recent report by the Guardian, Kenyan international Wanyama has been targeted by the Scottish champions ahead of the transfer window opening in January, after the 28-year-old fell down the pecking order at current club Tottenham.

However, Hoops boss Lennon has been speaking to the media ahead of tomorrow night’s Europa League clash with Ligue 1 side Rennes, and he insists he’s pretty content with his current options in the middle of the park:

Wanyama was completely omitted from the Spurs squad that defeated Olympiacos 4-2 last night but, as Lennon points out, signing a player like Wanyama would likely cost a small fortune – so do you think there’s any chance at all that he could be back in Glasgow for a second spell at Celtic Park?
