Ally McCoist insists Ryan Porteous tried to ‘seriously main’ Borna Barisic during tonight’s game at Easter Road.
The Rangers legend appeared on BT Sport’s coverage of the game between his old side and Hibs this evening.
And he was candid in giving his thoughts on the tackle after the game.
McCoist believes there’s no defence for Porteous’ tackle and that the Hibs defender let his team and manager down.
The centre back was given a straight red card by referee Nick Walsh and it led to both dugouts clashing too.
But McCoist believes Porteous’ is totally to blame and said so after the game.
Speaking on BT Sport, McCoist said: “It’s an absolutely horrendous challenge.
“Barisic, thankfully, half sees it coming. Watch, Barisic could go for that ball and doesn’t. I’m telling you right now, Barisic veers to the right hand side not to get involved in the challenge and there’s absolutely no excuse for that challenge.
“It’s as bad as I’ve seen for a long, long time.”
He continued: “There’s only one thing going to come out of that challenge and he’s went in there to injure and seriously maim an opponent.”
Porteous was sent off on the hour mark as his Hibs side trailed Rangers 3-0.
The game ended 3-0 and now Porteous will have to miss the Edinburgh derby against Hearts on Boxing Day due to suspension.
