Cruzeiro President Confirms Celtic’s Bid for Brazilian Centre-Back Fabricio Bruno

Celtic have lodged a bid thought to be in the region of €3M for Brazilian defender Fabricio Bruno, according to the president of his club Cruzeiro.

Summer signing Christopher Jullien has settled into life well as a Celtic player this season, and has formed a pretty reliable partnership with Kristoffer Ajer at the heart of the Hoops’ defence.

But manager Neil Lennon might be looking to improve his options at centre-back with Jozo Simunovic still out injured, and Jack Hendry seemingly un-fancied and completely out of the first-team picture.

That has led to reports that the imposing 6ft 3ins Bruno, 23, is a target for the Scottish champions, who have reportedly already tabled an offer.

According to Brazilian news outlet Globo Esporte, Cruzeiro chief exec Marcio Rodrigues has confirmed Celtic’s interest in luring the player to the UK, and admitted there has been an offer, saying: “The proposal came, yes, but it is not consistent with what we want.

“There was a little enquiry and they made a proposal, but it didn’t come close to what we want.”

Celtic fans – would you welcome another recruit at centre-back, and where else should be prioritised as an area to be strengthened in the January transfer window?
