Gerrard Confirms Borna Barisic a Doubt for Cup Final with ‘Bruised Bone’

Rangers manager Steven Gerrard has confirmed left-back Borna Barisic is a doubt for Sunday’s Betfred Cup Final with Celtic, with the Croatia international suffering from a bruised bone.

Gerrard was without Barisic for Wednesday night’s 2-2 draw against Aberdeen at Pittodrie, with Jon Flanagan deputising in his place in defence, but many fans would’ve hoped Barisic would’ve been fit for Sunday’s game at Hampden.

Barisic has been in excellent form this season, but his return in time for Sunday’s mouthwatering encounter at the national stadium now looks unlikely, with Gerrard confirming his status as he spoke to the assembled media inside Pittodrie:

With Barisic apparently struggling, is it a no brainer that Flanagan will continue at left-back, or could Andy Halliday perhaps be brought into the fold against Neil Lennon’s side?

And, psychologically speaking, how big could Sunday’s final be in determining the outcome of this season’s title race?
