Gerrard and his squad are still licking their wounds after Sunday’s dramatic Betfred Cup Final defeat to Celtic, but it seems the result hasn’t done anything to make Gerrard think about questioning his future in Glasgow.
The Ibrox club are still waiting to claim their first major trophy since Gerrard arrived in the summer of 2018, but the improvements made on the pitch since his arrival has been undeniable, and the man himself confirmed his intention to commit his future to the Gers as he sat down with the media this afternoon.
Speaking via the BBC, Gerrard said: “It was a pretty simple decision. I’m happy here.
“The club approached me a week to 10 days ago about a new deal.
“Talks have been pretty straightforward and positive.
“I’m very grateful for the opportunity to manage and lead this football club. I’m as hungry and determined to get the good days back here as I ever was.
“Allan McGregor and Steven Davis’ deals are imminent.
“They’re all agreed. They are two players I want around on a year extension on top of this year.
“Jermain’s is a bit different because he’s obviously a Bournemouth’s player until the end of the year. But it’s a similar situation in that we want him to stay around.”
What do you think of the news?
And do you think Gerrard and the aforementioned players will go on to become modern day Rangers legends?
