Revealed: Staggering Amount Agents Earned From Transfers in 2019

Agents earned a staggering £500million in fees during 2019 – an all-time high amount.

It was revealed by FIFA today that the figure had risen almost 20% from 2018.

There have been some huge transfers in the two transfer windows of 2019, with Joao Felix’s move from Benfica to Atletico Madrid coming in at a reported £114.1m. Felix is represented by Portuguese agent Jorge Mendes.

Other notable transfers were Harry Maguire’s £78.3m switch from Leicester City to Manchester United, Antoine Griezmann’s £107m move from Atletico Madrid to Barcelona and Eden Hazard leaving Chelsea for Real Madrid in a £90m deal.

Per PA’s Jamie Gardner, it’s been a big year:

That’s half a billion pounds in fees!

With the January transfer window less than a month away, those agents will be working on more deals – and you’d expect agents fees to increase if there are similarly expensive transfers completed.

Who do you think will be the most expensive signings in 2020?
