The World Cup could be heading to Scotland after it was revealed we’re set to be included in a joint bid to host football’s biggest global event.
According to the Guardian, the English and Irish FAs have drawn up detailed plans to host the 2030 World Cup across the UK isles, with Scotland and Wales heavily involved in hosting matches.
The English FA has already carried out a study into the feasibility of any potential bid and are now awaiting support from each country’s respective governments.
If everything goes to plan, preparation will begin into putting a plan into place for a launch in early 2022 – with the hope of hosting the tournament in the summer of 2030.
It’s not the first time in recent years Scotland have tried to host a major international tournament, after our joint bid with Ireland to host Euro 2008 lost out to Poland and Ukraine.
What do you think of the plan, and would you like to see World Cup matches played in Glasgow and Edinburgh?
