Video: Steven Gerrard Laments Missed Chances but Says Rangers Were ‘Superior’ Against Celtic in Cup Final

Steven Gerrard admits his Rangers side passed up several golden opportunities against Celtic in the Betfred Cup Final but insists his players were the superior team in the 1-0 defeat.

Neil Lennon’s Hoops won their tenth consecutive domestic trophy at Hampden today thanks to Christopher Jullien’s second-half goal – which transpired to be Celtic’s only effort on target in the entire match.

Gers striker Alfredo Morelos missed several gilt-edged chances, including a penalty on 64 minutes, and an obviously dejected Gerrard admitted they were extremely costly in such a tight contest:

Morelos has now played against Celtic 11 times during his time in Scottish football and has failed to score a solitary goal but do you think he’ll continue to enjoy Gerrard’s full confidence in the biggest matches?

And, psychologically speaking, how damaging could today’s defeat be for Rangers, as the Ibrox club look to stop their bitter rivals from winning a ninth consecutive Premiership title?
