Liverpool fans repeatedly chanted the name of Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn during this evening’s Champions League showdown with RB Salzburg.
Jurgen Klopp’s Premier League giants travelled to Austria knowing they needed at least a point to keep alive their hopes of retaining the Champions League trophy they won against Spurs on June 1.
A tense first-half saw the teams go in at the break evenly poised at 0-0 but two goals in two minutes – including an absolutely outrageous finish from Mo Salah – saw Liverpool claim a crucial 2-0 victory over the Red Bull-backed side.
And with the points in the bag, their travelling supporters took a break from cheering on their team to instead cheer on the leader of the Government’s opposition, ahead of Thursday’s nationwide General Election:
What do you think of the fans’ political statement, and could the show of support win Corbyn a few extra votes this week?
