Daniel Stendel has made a big decision on Steven Naismith’s future as a Hearts player.
The Jambos manager has had a busy start to life at the Tynecastle club, taking charge of five games before the winter break.
January has allowed him to make some changes to his squad already, but only in departures – with Glenn Whelan’s release and the bold decision to make Christophe Berra train with the reserves.
As a result of his controversial decision to remove Berra from the first team, Stendel has been left looking for a new captain.
And it’s now being reported that he’s made that decision – naming Naismith as his skipper:
There had been rumours in Scottish football that Naismith may have been another player Stendel was looking to get rid of this month.
But the appointment as captain shows Naismith has a future at Tynecastle under Stendel.
Hearts are back in action this weekend when they take on Airdrieonians in the Scottish Cup tomorrow.
