Ex-Real Madrid Defender Raul Bravo Denies Ordering Assassination Attempt on Former Team-Mate

Former Real Madrid defender Raul Bravo has emphatically denied trying to orchestrate an assassination attempt on his ex-team-mate Darko Kovacevic.

Now retired, Bravo won two La Liga titles with Los Blancos across a six-year period before going on to play alongside Kovacevic at Greek giants Olympiacos in 2007.

News broke last week that Bravo was a suspect in the attempt on Kovacevic’s life, with The Mirror reporting that he only sustained minor injuries after diving to the floor to dodge a hale of bullet fire, before the gunmen left the scene in a Smart car, which was later found torched nearby.

But Bravo has now spoken out on the shocking incident and has emphatically denied having anything at all to do with it.

Bravo told Radio Marca’s ‘A Diario’ programme, as per Goal, “A magazine in Serbia reported it and I was stunned that it said I ordered the murder of [Darko] Kovacevic.

“The only thing that matters [to them] is selling [magazines], and saying I wanted to kill Darko sells more. It’s a crazy story, it’s nonsense.”
