The centre-back was a British record signing when Man City signed him for a whopping £52 million from Everton back in the summer of 2016, but the 25-year-old has failed to convince Pep Guardiola that he’s a truly elite, world-class defender.
That has led to tabloid speculation that Stones could be following Mikel Arteta from the Etihad to North London, with the Express just one of many media outlets claiming a deal could be struck this month.
And if Stones does indeed end up pulling on Arsenal’s iconic red and white jersey soon, it seems he’ll be pretty welcomed by a significant faction of the club’s support:
