Ronny Deila Promises to Strip Naked If New York City FC Win the MLS Cup

Ronny Deila appears to have already endeared himself to fans of his new club New York City FC – by promising to strip naked on the pitch if he guides them to the MLS glory.

Deila managed Celtic between 2014 and 2016 before returning to his homeland of Norway to manage Valerenga but, as we told you last week, he was targeted and appointed by New York’s hierarchy just last week.

America’s top-flight doesn’t kick-off until March but Deila has spent his first few days in charge meeting and greeting fan groups and explaining his coaching methods, as well as his hopes for the forthcoming season.

And when asked by independent fan group the Third Rail about the time he stripped for fans of his former side Stromgodset after winning the Norwegian league, Deila promised to do the same if he triumphs in the Big Apple:

Deila won two Scottish Premiership titles during his spell in Scotland, but Hoops supporters never quite got to the stage of seeing their manager lose his clothes – but do you think he’ll succeed in MLS?
