Jermain Defoe scored the only goal of the match on 34 minutes to seal another three points for Gerrard’s side, although some supporters might’ve been disappointed not to see a second or third goal at home to the relegation-threatened Buddies.
However, Gerrard was keen to remind everyone of the importance of three points, before going on to praise Defoe’s predatory instincts and his calmness in front of goal:
Next up for Gerrard and Rangers is a trip to Tynecastle to face Hearts, who look somewhat rejuvenated under Daniel Stendel, and are unbeaten in their opening two games after the winter break.
