ESPN’s Gabriele Marcotti Weighs-In on ‘Grotesque’ Leigh Griffiths Incident

One of ESPN’s most high-profile pundits has weighed-in on Leigh Griffiths‘ altercation with Hamilton’s Sam Woods on Sunday – describing the incident as ‘grotesque’.

Celtic striker Griffiths was involved in a tussle with Woods during his side’s 4-1 away win yesterday, with the Scotland international accused by some of stamping on his opponent in the aftermath.

After squaring up to Accies midfielder Alex Gogic, Griffiths was shown a yellow card but wasn’t punished for the alleged ‘stamp’, with referee Nick Walsh apparently unsure if the act was deliberate or not.

However, the passage of play looks pretty cut-and-dry for Marcotti, who replied to a follower on Twitter regarding the melee, and went as far as describing Griffiths’ actions as ‘grotesque’:

Do you think Griffiths will be served with a notice of complaint by the SPFL’s compliance officer following yesterday’s match?

And does the Hoops striker definitely deserve a retrospective ban for his actions?
