After a difficult start to life at Easter Road, Doidge has burst into life in the second-half of the season, and currently has 17 goals in 35 appearances in all competitions this campaign, and could be set to make his international bow.
The 27-year-old has never been capped by his country at any level but, interestingly, has played international basketball for Wales as a youngster, and it seems he could be in the reckoning for the friendlies against Austria and America next month.
Speaking via Welsh outlet Y Clwb Pel Droed, the Manchester United legend said: “He’s someone who I looked at actually 18 months ago. I say at looked at him, I went to watch him at Bolton and he came on with ten minutes to go which has been the case a lot of times.
“He’s someone who, obviously, is scoring goals. He was at Forest Green, Bolton and started in the Welsh Leagues.
“When you have a goalscorer, it doesn’t matter what level, they know where the back of the net is.
“He’s someone who we’re looking at closely over the next few weeks, obviously with the games coming up.”
Wales have been drawn to play Switzerland, Turkey and Italy in this summer’s European Championships – but does Doidge have what it takes to be in Giggs’ squad?
