Rangers manager Steven Gerrard has hit back at critics of Ryan Kent tonight, describing some of the condemnation of the playmaker as ‘ludicrous’.
Kent bagged the only goal of the game as the Ibrox club saw off Braga 1-0 in tonight’s Europa League last-32 second-leg, ensuring they progressed to the next phase of the competition 4-2 on aggregate.
Signed from Liverpool on a permanent basis back in September for a fee in the region of ÂŁ7 million, Kent has scored seven goals so far this season, including the winner in Braga and a goal against Celtic on December 29.
And speaking to the media after his side’s progression, Gerrard insisted that anyone who reckons Kent isn’t justifying his fee or living up to the billing as one of Rangers’ top players is well wide of the mark:
Do you think Kent has done enough in a Rangers shirt this season, regardless of his goal in Portugal?
And how far do you think Rangers can go in this season’s Europa League?
