Video: Furious Steven Gerrard Says Rangers Players ‘Couldn’t Handle the Pressure’ in Killie Defeat

Infuriated Rangers boss Steven Gerrard brutally laid into his players following the 2-1 defeat at Kilmarnock – insisting his stars ‘couldn’t handle the pressure’.

With no margin for error in their title race with bitter rivals Celtic, it looked like the Ibrox club were heading for all three points at half-time after Scott Arfield’s impressive opener after half-an-hour.

But a nervousness crept into the Gers’ display as the second-half roared on, and two late goals from Stephen O’Donnell and Eamon Brophy handed Killie all three points and consigned their opponents to a defeat that leaves their hopes of winning the Premiership by a thread.

Speaking to BT Sport after the full-time whistle, Gerrard conceded that he was responsible for the loss, and insisted that the buck stopped with him – but he also said his players simply couldn’t handle the pressure and defended like schoolboys:

Rangers are now 10 points behind Celtic, albeit with a game in-hand, but so you think they still have a chance of winning the league?
