Video: New Spurs Signing Steven Bergwijn Scores Brilliant Debut Goal Against Manchester City

Tottenham new boy Steven Bergwijn got his career in the Premier League off to the perfect start this afternoon – by scoring a brilliant goal against Manchester City.

The 22-year-old Netherlands international was handed his first start for the North London club following his late move to the club from Dutch giants PSV Eindhoven, in a deal reported to be worth in the region of £27 million.

Like a lot of his Spurs team-mates, Bergwijn endured a pretty quiet and frustrating first-half in today’s blockbuster clash with City creating most of the chances in the opening 45 minutes, and even missing a controversial penalty just before the break.

Tottenham rode their luck, without a doubt, but they got their rewards on 63 minutes, when their latest addition controlled the ball brilliantly before firing it past a helpless Ederson:

Aside from helping Tottenham towards all three points, another defeat for City would surely end their defence of the Premier League title, no?
