Video: Watch Ex-Celtic and Hibs Midfielder Liam Henderson Score First Goal for Italian Side Empoli

Liam Henderson‘s love affair with Italian football continued at the weekend as the midfielder scored for his new club Empoli.

Back in January 2018, Henderson raised a few eyebrows when he decided to take up the opportunity of plying his trade in Italy by leaving Celtic to join Bari, then in Serie B, but two years on and the central midfielder hasn’t looked back since.

After winning promotion to Serie A with Hellas Verona, Henderson decided to move back to Serie B with Empoli last month, and it seems the 23-year-old has wasted absolutely no time in ingratiating himself to his new club’s supporters.

Playing against promotion-chasing Crotone, Empoli pulled-off a much-needed 3-1 home victory on Sunday – and it was Henderson who put the icing on the cake with the crucial third goal:

Empoli are the third Italian side Henderson has played and scored for – and could he perhaps be in the running for a senior Scotland call-up in the not-too-distant future?
