Bookies Massively Slash Odds on Steven Gerrard Taking Liverpool U23 Job

Steven Gerrard has now emerged as one of the frontrunners to take the vacant job as Liverpool’s Under-23 manager, following a sustained flurry of bets.

Rangers boss Gerrard is enduring his toughest spell since arriving at Ibrox, with his side now 13 points behind bitter rivals Celtic and out of both domestic cup competitions.

Liverpool are looking for a replacement for Neil Critchley after the coach departed to take over at League One side Blackpool last week and, initially, Gerrard was priced at around 100/1 amongst bookmakers for the role.

However, following the Gers’ 1-0 defeat at home to relegation-threatened Hamilton Accies last night, Gerrard is now priced at just 4/1 to return to Anfield with BetFair.

Gerrard is behind just Barry Lewtas at evens and Tim Jenkins at 17/10 – but do you really think he could be about to leave Glasgow for his former club before the end of the current season?
