Juventus Confirm Defender Daniele Rugani Has Tested Positive for Coronavirus

Juventus have tonight confirmed central defender Daniele Rugani has tested positive for the Covid-19 virus.

In a statement released by the Serie A champions via their official website, it was revealed that Rugani, 25, has indeed contracted Coronavirus but is currently showing no signs of the related symptoms.

However, Juve insist they are “activating all the isolation procedures required by law”, including those who have come into contact with Rugani, who has played seven times for the Old Lady this season and was an unused sub in last weekend’s behind-closed-doors win over Inter Milan.

Since that victory, all sport in Italy has been suspended until 3 April, with the country in lockdown because of the outbreak, and it remains to be seen how the rest of the campaign will be played by the Italian footballing authorities.

Do you think it is only a matter of time before sporting events in the UK are postponed and suspended in an attempt to contain the spread?
