Video: Alan Shearer Lavishes Praise on Chelsea’s ‘Magnificent’ Billy Gilmour

Chelsea advanced to the quarter-finals of the FA Cup this evening by beating Liverpool – and it was Scottish youngster Billy Gilmour who stole the show at Stamford Bridge.

Having been promoted to the first-team permanently by Frank Lampard last month, Gilmour, 18, was given the nod to start tonight’s clash against the European champions and was absolutely outstanding for large spells of the tie.

Indeed, the former Rangers midfielder was handed the man of the match award after the final whistle, and Premier League legend Alan Shearer didn’t hold back in his praise of the play-maker – insisting Gilmour ‘bossed’ the centre of the pitch:

Gilmour has now made eight senior appearances for Chelsea’s first-team this season, and has already been capped for Scotland’s Under-21 side.

But could he be included in Steve Clarke’s squad for the upcoming Euro 2020 playoff against Israel later this month?
