Video: Luke Shaw Scores and Provides Assist for Odion Ighalo in Derby v Man Utd

Luke Shaw transformed into an unlikely talisman for Manchester United tonight by scoring one and setting-up another in the FA Cup tie against Derby County.

The Red Devils’ fifth-round tie was given some added spice by the presence of Wayne Rooney, who was deployed in an attacking midfielder position by the Championship side at Pride Park.

But, despite Rooney going close from an early free-kick, it was United who dominated from the early stages and Shaw who opened the scoring just after the half-hour mark with a cleanly-struck bouncing volley:

And just a few minutes, the England left-back managed to pick-out team-mate Odion Oghalo for his second goal since surprisingly being signed by United on-loan in the January transfer window:

If they see things out in this match, United will be away to Norwich City in the quarter-finals of the Cup – but do you think they’ll finish this season with any meaningful silverware?
