Why Some St Mirren Fans Were Wearing Protective Coverall Suits at Celtic Park

Some St Mirren fans wore protective coverall suits while watching their team play Celtic this afternoon.

It wasn’t a great day on the pitch for Jim Goodwin’s men as they went down 5-0 at the hands of the league leaders.

They struggled to cope with the quality of the home team as a Leigh Griffiths hat-trick and goals from Odsonne Edouard and Callum McGregor earned the win.

But there was one notable moment involving St Mirren as a number of supporters were seen watching on while wearing protective coveralls.

You can see them here:

But why were they dressed like that?

With the current panic around the coronavirus, the costumes look like they were to grab attention.

But the real point of it was to protest the cost of current ticket prices in Scottish football, with the St Mirren fans supporting the ‘Twenty’s Plenty’ campaign:

Hopefully the football authorities and clubs take fan opinion into account and assess the cost to attend games in the future.
