Bundesliga Set to Resume Next Month – But Behind Closed Doors Until 2021

Bundesliga fixtures are reportedly set to resume in May – but look likely to be played behind closed doors until the start of 2021.

Like every other league in Europe, the German top-flight has been suspended since mid-March but Bundesliga chief executive Christian Seifert has told the New York Times that games in the top two tiers will resume at the start of May despite the ongoing coronavirus pandemic engulfing the world.

However, Seifert added that matches are likely to be played without any fans present for the rest of 2020, with the suggestion of bringing supporters back into grounds in January.

Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund’s star studded squads have been pictured training together in smaller groups this week, but it remains to be seen if Seifert’s plan has legs, and if it’ll be backed by other European nations.

Do you think it’ll be safe to start playing matches again just four weeks from now?
