Fast Forward and Future History – East AND West…

FAST FORWARD

There is something on the horizon, thanks to Frank Warren that will see us back on track with boxing in the UK. We may have to continue to keep our horizons wide until then, given that we are looking to the east and west of us as more and more are coming out of lockdown.

We begin tonight, Saturday the 27th of June in Ontario, Canada where super welterweight Jessie Wilcox takes on Andres Viera for the WBC USNBC silver title and knowing little about each fighter won’t help a prediction – so I shan’t make one!!

To the east of us in Usti Nad Labem, Czech Republic there are an unbelievable 27 fights on a card whilst in Nordrhein- Westfalen, Germany there is a more modest 4 fights. In Moscow there are 11 fights, in Cheonan, South Korea, 12 fights and in Florida we have 8 fights including super lightweight Ryan Martin taking on Carlos Ninsten Velazquez.

In Mexico City, meanwhile we have super lightweight Omar Alejandro Aguilar v Dante Jardon and lightweight Miguel Berchelt v Eleazar Valenzuela. Clearly Aguilar and Berchelt shall be expected to do the equivalent of what Navarrete did last week and get through it and get rid of the ring rust.

During the week, on Tuesday the 30th of June in Las Vegas we have Bob Arum back with super lightweight Alex Saucedo up against Sonny Frederickson with Josue Vargas takes on Salvador Briseno. There shall be expectations that Saucedo and Vargas shall win.

Then on Thursday the 2nd of July, back in Las Vegas, Arum returns with super lightweight Jose Pedraza taking on Mikkel LesPierre after it, having been called off a few short weeks ago. Pedraza should be the one who gets through it but, as we have seen, that things on paper mean nothing.
