Officially we are back on a global scale… The UK is some way away but there are fights happening that are now going to start to define who and when our fighters may be on the world stage and who is left standing to face them.
So, to last week and on Tuesday the 9th June in Las Vegas, the 5 fight bill headlined by 13 fight undefeated super featherweight Shakur Stevenson happened. He managed to knock out Felix Caraballo in the 6th round and he is now closer to the top fighters in the division – Josh Warrington and Gary Russell Jr.
We returned to Las Vegas on Thursday with a bill that was headlined by Stevenson’s rival, super featherweight Jessie Magdaleno whomanaged a win by disqualification in the 10th round against Yenifel Vicente. There was also the NABF featherweight title fight between Adam Lopez and Luis Coria that ended in a majority decision win for Lopez.
Finally, last night Friday the 12th June in Berlin the WBO sanctioned the super welterweight Jack Culcay win on points over Howard Cospolite for their international belt, the EBU saw the middleweight title go to the less experienced Marten Arsumanjan over Bjoern Schicke and a majority decision was enough for middleweight Vincenzo Gualtieri to beat Alexander Pavlov for the vacant German BDB title.
In Konary, Poland, heavyweight Mariusz Wach unsurprisingly beat Kevin Johnson for the Polish heavyweight title.
Funny old times indeed…
