The controversy of last week could be claimed to be that the return of a former Scottish world champion got so little press but return he did. In Aberdeen, the British and Irish Boxing Authority (BIBA) gave Scott Harrison, former WBO world title holder, a platform to beat Paul Peers in round 3. Peers went down after a heavy body shot but it still left Alex Arthur unsure that Harrison should be back at all… But back he is.
Also, on the bill, heavyweight Liam Allan made a successful debut against Jose F Leon and not the advertised Dan Ballard stopping him in the second round. Middleweight Adam Stewart alsofaced a new opponent in Alexander Zeledon stopping Zeledon in the fourth. Lightweight Lewis Mulberry got a points win against Johnson Tellez, and super featherweight Caitlin Foran also won on points against Jamie Bates.
On the same night in Magdeburg, Germany, the WBA continental heavyweight belt went to Agit Kabayel as he beat Evgenios Lazaridis on points.
During the week we also had, on Tuesday the 21st of July, in Las Vegas, former WBO super featherweight champion Oscar Valdez defeating Jayson Velez by tenth round stoppage and super middleweight Edgar Berlanga getting a first round knockout of Jeno Tonte to add to his highly impressive record of knockouts.
