Arsenal Wonderkid Gedion Zelalem Lets Down USA Fans Over False Reports He’ll Play For Them

USA fans got excited yesterday after Arsenal wonderkid Gedion Zelalem appeared to signal his intent to play for their national team.

The German-born 17-year-old midfielder – who has made two appearances in a Gunners shirt – spent seven years living in America before making the move to North London in 2013.

But he’s yet to pledge his international future to either Germany or USA – even after this tweet was sent yesterday:

That led USA fans to get pretty excited about the thought of one of Arsene Wenger’s best prospects pulling on the stars and stripes.

But that account is a fake – as many soon found out – and Zelalem moved to confirm he does not have a Twitter account via his Instagram page:

So, fans across the pond will have to calm down and keep hoping they might be able to persuade the youngster to wear their colours when the time comes.
