What to Expect in Round Two of the NFL Draft

Day one is in the books, the second round starts tonight.

I like the second round more, as there is a lot of value picks here. There are still some very highly-rated players left, and there are teams who would give up a lot to move up and get them. Tonight will be fun.

Titans hold the first pick in the 2nd round, and now they have the opportunity to get a weapon for newly-assigned Marcus Mariota. I think they need a precise route runner, but the deep threat Devin Smith is such a great pick at this point.

The top ranked players left are Randy Gregory and Landon Collins. Gregory fell because of his off-field issues. I have no explanation for why Collins fell, but teams should be eager to get him in the second. I can see the Chicago Bears as a great fit. Gregory could go all over, but the Buccs shouldn’t turn him down.

Other players to keep an eye on in the second are wide out Jaelen Strong, possibly a great fit for the 49ers and the tackles Donovan Smith and Jake Fisher. I also expect quarterback Bryce Petty to go tonight, probably in the 2nd round. Buffalo Bills will think hard and long before they turn him down. The best tight end Maxx Williams is also left, together with the corner talent Jalen Collins.

There is a lot of value tonight. Let’s see who gets who.
