Everton’s 17-Year-Old Wonderkid Tom Davies Trains With the Full England Squad

Roy Hodgson has given an insight into one player who could be making an impact on the full England national team if this week’s training is anything to go by.

Tom Davies – a 17-year-old midfielder who plays for Everton’s under-21 side – is training alongside the likes of Joe Hart, Raheem Sterling and Harry Kane after being drafted into training to replace Wayne Rooney, Jonjo Shelvey and Danny Ings – who all missed out with injury worries.

Davies won’t be involved in the qualifier against Estonia on Friday night, but he has been given the rare opportunity to show his quality to Hodgson and the England team.

And if they picked him out of the under-17 national side who are also training at St George’s Park this week then it tells you a lot about how good a player Everton could have on their hands.

There’s little information about Davies out there, apart from him turning 17 in June and signing his first professional deal with Everton last month after joining the club at the age of 11.

According to evertonfc.com, he’s a tough tackling midfielder with a great passing range and has already impressed the club enough to earn a slot in their under-21 side.

It’s a memorable day for Davies, who must now come into focus for Everton fans excited at the next crop of youngsters in the club’s academy.
