Football fans all over the country were left a mixture of devastated and apprehensive last week when it was announced that Gary Neville would be leaving Sky’s Monday Night Football show.
The former Manchester United right-back’s profile has never been higher due to his stint as a pundit on the programme, but departed the corporation to join the La Liga side on an initial six-month contract last Thursday.
Speculation grew as to who would be lined-up to replace Neville and join Jamie Carragher and Ed Chamberlain in the studio every week, with Carragher eventually revealing that the show’s producers had decided to go down the route of bringing in a different guest for each broadcast.
And who was first in the hotseat tonight? None other than Carragher’s former Liverpool team-mate Craig Bellamy. The ex-Wales international joined Carragher and Chamberlain to get the post-Neville era under way, and was welcomed in classic Carra fashion…
