John Guidetti Back to Celtic? Hoops Fans Give a Mixed Reaction

John Guidetti has been talking up the chances of him one day returning to Celtic – but supporters have given the comments a lukewarm response.

The striker spent the 2014/15 season on-loan at Celtic from former club Manchester City, but chose to move on to La Liga side Celta Vigo last summer, rather than remain in Glasgow.

Guidetti enjoyed a promising first season in Spain, scoring 12 league goals in total and finding the net against the likes of Barcelona and Atletico Madrid, but it appears his Spanish adventure may not be living up to his expectations.

When asked about his future, the 24-year-old – who is currently representing Sweden at Euro 2016 – refused to rule out returning to Glasgow one day, and spoke about his time with the Hoops fondly.

Speaking via the Daily Record, Guidetti said: “I loved my time at Celtic – it was amazing. It was a chance to play for a fantastic club.

“And there were some moments at Celtic – like scoring against Inter in the Europa League – that gave me the opportunity to sign for Celta Vigo.

“We did amazingly well this year. We’ve qualified directly for the Europa League and we beat some top teams.

“It’s an exciting time for the club now. We beat Barcelona at home, Villarreal and Sevilla away, and Atletico Madrid in the Copa del Rey. We’ve had a great season and it’s been a brilliant year for me.

“You never know, maybe I’ll come back to Celtic one day. I was very happy in Glasgow.

“The supporters there were always amazing towards me. I saw a lot of them against Ireland on Monday night.

“I know a lot of Celtic fans are Irish supporters and my girlfriend told me after the game that they were so friendly to her.”

Guidetti scored 15 times in 35 appearances for Celtic, including in a memorable 3-3 draw with Inter Milan.

And there are some who remember his time wearing green and white fondly, but for others, the thought of welcoming back a player who once spurned the club is too much to stomach:

What do you think? Would he be welcomed back to Celtic?
