The English midfielder was today handed a three-week ban by the Ibrox club after holding a meeting with Mark Warburton and the board this morning.
That comes after he was told to stay away from the first team squad after a training ground incident last week that has so far gone unexplained by the manager or the club.
Barton did say sorry in the aftermath of the incident, but his comments hinted that it had been blown out of proportion in his view.
It’s been a difficult start to the season for Rangers, with their team producing some inconsistent performances and results to sit fifth in the Premiership table after six games.
They lost 5-1 to Celtic at Parkhead and Barton’s ban is just the latest in a line of incidents Rangers fans would rather not have to speak about.
But while they will be hating some of the negativity surrounding the club right now, Hoops supporters are certainly enjoying it.
Plenty have been reacting to the Barton news this morning – and they find it pretty entertaining:
Barton now has three weeks away from Ibrox – and it should become clearer in that time where his long term future lies.
As he left the club’s ground earlier, he was asked if he was still a Rangers player to which he replied, “I think so.”
But this latest development suggests there is a big problem between Barton and the club – and fans believe they could be so big that he won’t kick another ball for them again.
