Frank Lampard has gone from zero to hero at New York City FC in just a matter of months.
Arriving arguably as the club’s biggest ever signing last season, Lampard’s lack of fitness and poor form saw him criticised as he tried to adjust to life in the Big Apple.
But the former Chelsea and England midfielder’s performances of late could now see him in serious contention for the MVP award come the end of this season.
Lamps netted a stunning hat-trick last week in an epic win over Colorado Rapids.
His scoring feat now takes him to eight goals in his last eight games for NYCFC – and we’re now beginning to see more more flashes of the old Lampard from his Stamford Bridge days.
Rejuvenated Lampard took part in the third instalment of #AskLampard this week, where he would answer questions from fans on Twitter.
With his popularity now shooting through the roof, he did his best to wade through as many of the thousands of questions as he could.
Lamps, 38, who also enjoyed a brief loan spell at sister club Manchester City, was quizzed on his fellow professionals in the MLS – and also ruled himself out of becoming the next James Bond.
When asked about possibly playing the role of 007, Lampard joked: “It’s a nice compliment but I think I’ll stick to what I’m doing for the moment.”
