Josh Barnett Debuts for Impact Wrestling

Current UFC Heavyweight and English New Japan Pro Wrestling color commentator Josh Barnett debuted at the Thursday Impact wrestling television tapings.

Barnett defeated fellow MMA fighter Bobby Lashley for the TNA World Heavyweight title, only to have the decision overturned.

This means we have a Bellator heavyweight feuding with a UFC Heavyweight for a professional wrestling title.

Barnett is on temporary suspension for failing a drug test in December, and is likely to face a very lengthy suspension, as this was his fourth failed drug test.

Barnett has experience in the squared circle, as he made a run in New Japan Pro Wrestling in 2003 and 2004, including main eventing the Tokyo Dome against IWGP Heavyweight champion Yuji Nagata in his first match. He’s wrestled on and off throughout his MMA career, but this run in TNA marks his first official match for an American wrestling promotion.
