With Zlatan Ibrahimovic taking him under his wing, it’s unlikely Marcus Rashford will go wrong.
It’s a classic tale of the young apprentice learning from the old master.
Zlatan’s lesson to Rashford
The 19-year-old striker insists it’s not just about his performances on the pitch – which have seen Ibrahimovic notch 20 goals so far this season – but his presence around place and how he deals with younger players in the squad.
Most importantly, Ibrahimovic has taught Rashford the importance of a winning mentality.
Rashford praised his 35-year-old mentor, telling the club’s official site: “I think it’s the way his mentality works.
“That is probably the biggest thing, not only for the young players but other players can take that from him as well.
“In fact, that is definitely the main thing. It’s good for the dressing room. Sometimes, if we’re down, he can pick us back up and, when we’re up, he keeps us up. Bringing in that type of player, it has been key.”
Ibrahimovic continued his fine scoring form with a goal in United’s 3-0 win over Leicester on Sunday.
And he’ll be looking to carry it into Saturday’s game against Watford at Old Trafford as Jose Mourinho’s men look to break into the top four.
