Juan Mata’s Latest Blog Has Man Utd Fans Panicking About Angel Gomes

Manchester United‘s Juan Mata sent the club’s supporters into a panic this afternoon when he referred to promising teenager Angel Gomes as his former team-mate.

Gomes is fresh from playing a major role in England’s Under-17 World Cup win in India, and has been earmarked as a United star of the future for some time now.

The exciting 17-year-old has already made his senior debut for the Red Devils, coming off the bench for Wayne Rooney against Crystal Palace back in May.

But, if Mata’s blog is to be believed, Gomes might be heading for pastures new pretty soon.

The Spaniard gives his weekly thoughts on life as a United player online, and one particular line caught everybody’s attention this week.

He wrote: “PS: I take this opportunity to congratulate England for winning the Under-17 World Cup in India.

“In particular to my former team-mate Angel Gomes, who made his debut against Crystal Palace in the final game of the last Premier League season.

“He’s part of a great generation of players that can bring more success in the future. Congratulations also to Spain. Santi Denia’s team did an excellent job in this World Cup, displaying the main features of the Spanish football with which I feel so identified.

“There’s a fantastic group of footballers in the making.”

As you can imagine, the prospect of losing one of their most talented young players hasn’t gone down well with supporters:

What do you think? Is Mata maybe being taken out of context, or is it simply a typo?
