The Danish defender joined the club in January 2016 from FC Midtjylland in his home country and made an impressive impact in his first few months under Ronny Deila.
However, Sviatchenko soon found himself regularly out of the team when Brendan Rodgers arrived in Glasgow, and he was soon heading back to FC Midtjylland on loan.
The Danish Superliga side have agreed to re-sign Sviatchenko on a permanent basis after a successful six-month stint, and whilst it’s probably the best move for every party involved, the 26-year-old seems a little sad to be departing:
Celtic won a second consecutive domestic treble with Dedryck Boyata and Kristoffer Ajer in the centre of defence last season, but the Hoops will almost certainly need to invest in their back-line this summer.
But should they have kept Sviatchenko a bit longer?
What do you think?
