David Luiz Rightly Taking Pelters For His Defending Against Tottenham

David Luiz is rightly taking pelters for his defending against Tottenham this evening.

The Chelsea defender has been an important part of Maurizio Sarri’s new-look side this season, but hasn’t shown why tonight.

Instead, he’s served up a terrible defensive performance – with his play on two of Tottenham’s goals not what you would expect from a £34million centre back.

Luiz’s first mistake was to give away the foul that led to Dele Alli’s opener and he then turned his back on a soft Harry Kane shot that ended up beating goalkeeper Kepa easily for the second.

The Brazilian allowing Son Heung-Min to breeze past him for Tottenham’s third goal just compounded his terrible game.

And people are not happy with Luiz’s performance:

You get the point.

Chelsea trailed 3-0 and you struggled to see how they were going to get back into the game against a rampant Tottenham side that look like scoring more – and they didn’t, despite Olivier Giroud scoring a consolation goal late on.
