Celtic’s Mikey Johnston Could Be Heading to Greek Giants Panathinaikos On Loan

Celtic winger Mikey Johnston could be heading to Greece for a season on-loan with Panathinaikos, according to reports.

The exciting 20-year-old was brought into the Hoops’ first-team fold during Brendan Rodgers’ trophy-laden spell in charge, and was used as an important player under Neil Lennon, who started Johnston in the Scottish Cup Final win over Hearts.

But, according to David Friel of the Sun, Johnston could soon be set for a temporary stint in sunnier climes, with the Greek side’s Director of football Nikos Dabizas having watched the forward first-hand.

With last season’s loanees Oliver Burke and Timo Weah no longer at Celtic Park, you’d have thought Johnston would be in Lennon’s plans for the forthcoming campaign, but perhaps playing football abroad and learning a new culture could be good for him, eh?

What do you think of the proposed loan move?
