The Brazil international has been a mainstay in the Los Blancos team for more than a decade now, and has won an incredible four Champions League winner’s medals, as well as four La Liga titles.
However, at the age of 31, and with Real spending a whopping £47 million on Lyon full-back Ferland Mendy, it looks like the writing could be on the wall for Marcelo, and Spanish newspaper Sport are claiming Arsenal could be his escape route.
As we’ve told you previously, the North London club have been chasing Celtic’s Kieran Tierney, but Sport are claiming the Gunners have been alerted to the fact Marcelo has informed the Real Madrid hierarchy that he wishes to leave the Bernabéu this summer.
Moreover, Arsenal boss Unai Emery would be extremely familiar with Marcelo from his time in charge of Sevilla and Valencia – so could his pursuit of Tierney be over?
